2026 P&A Annual Conference – Elective Session 2.
In this session, Mark Thompson and Veronica Hoyt reflect on how complementarian convictions shape the life of the church gathering.
Beginning with the broader picture, they outline how men and women serve together at Moore Theological College—learning, praying, and ministering side by side—while also recognising the distinctions the Bible gives for church leadership and teaching. They then consider how this is expressed in gathered worship, particularly in what are sometimes called “slots and spots”—the various ways people contribute beyond the sermon.
Drawing on Scripture, they explore how the word of God can dwell richly among God’s people through a range of voices, and how churches might think carefully about including both men and women in ways that are biblically faithful and edifying.
This session offers a framework for thinking clearly about complementarianism in practice—seeking to honour both the unity and distinction of men and women as they serve together in the household of God.
